Micky Finn's French Wine Experience Offers French Wine Tasting, Italian Dinner, And Conversation Wit

posted by Brandon Turbeville on Apr 13, 2025

If you like French wine, Italian food, and great conversation, you’re in luck. That’s because Micky Finn’s has decided to combine all three into one event that you certainly don’t want to miss.

Micky Finn’s French Wine Experience will be held on April 17, at The Sapphire Room from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and will cost $30 per ticket.

For the cost of one ticket ($30), you can enjoy a meal catered from Stefano’s Italian restaurant of Florence and a selection of eight exquisite French wines available for tasting. In addition, the two-hour event will feature insightful conversation from wine experts Sam Tinsley and Greg Pfaender.

Whether it’s the food, the wine, or the information being shared, Micky Finn’s French Wine Experience would be worth the price of admission for any one of the offerings. This event, however, combines all three for an evening you will not want to miss.

To top it all off, you get to enjoy the event while scoping out The Sapphire Room, Micky Finn’s newest venture.

Sam Tinsley is the founder and organizer of the Florence Food and Wine Festival, an annual event that supports Help 4 Kids, a Florence County charity. As stated on their website:

Each week hundreds of children come to school on Monday morning hungry , irritable and not ready to learn because they had no food on the weekend while they were home. Help 4 Kids Florence is a program that supplies food packs to public schools in Florence County. Each Friday children at risk of being hungry get sent home with a bag of food for the weekend, providing them food for Saturday and Sunday. Our goal is that these children return to school on Monday rested, fed, and ready to learn.

http://www.help4kidsflorence.orgGreg Pfaender is the National Sales Manger of Authentique Vin, an importer of French wines to the United States, specifically the Southeastern United States. As Thomas Meunier states of his wines on the Authentique Vin website:

I started my journey in the wine world over 20 years ago in my native region of the Loire valley. During 6 vintages I worked at a biodynamic winery in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil growing Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. This experience, deep in the heart of a winemaker family, shaped my philosophy to wine and kept me humble until this day. When building my portfolio, my quest have always been to find life in the wines I pick, this vibrancy that makes each bottle a revelation. I know through my experience in the vines that when you respect nature, it delivers in the bottle and makes each wine unique because it shows the sense of a place.

I have kept this understanding first while building my selection; finding true winegrowers that make no concessions, with distinctive personalities that While Organic certification is not a mandatory criteria to be part of my portfolio, even though 3/4 of my selection is, I firmly believe that only the organic path is the one to quality, delivering better grapes, offering the best natural balance of the fruit components. I share with my friends winemakers the belief that wine is made in the vineyard and that 90% of the vigneron’s job is done when you bring the ripest grapes in the cellar. I believe in natural wines made with native yeasts and no additives, but also that sulfites is not our enemy if used with minimal doses after the fermentation… I know each winemaker of my portfolio personally, have built strong ties and friendship with them, we grow together sharing this search for excellence by always questioning ourselves to do better.

This is why being “Authentic” means so much to me and the reason why I named my portfolio that way. I know all my wines are made by people who are true to themselves, who keep this integrity that makes each vintage a step further… We are here to share with you our passion and bring smiles on faces… We aim to stay authentic all the way… That is why I’m doing what I do….

Tickets are limited, of course, so it’s best to purchase them early as this event is most likely going to sell out fast.

To purchase tickets, all you have to do is call or come by the Micky Finn’s Southside location (on Pamplico Hwy.).

With the opening of The Sapphire Room in 2025, Micky Finn’s is living up to its reputation, continuing to revolutionize the liquor, beer, and wine business.

Whether you are a wine enthusiast or just looking for dinner, a few glasses of good wine, and a fun night out, Micky Finn’s French Wine Experience is a unique event that is undoubtedly well worth the price of admission.
